Chinese Happy – Apathy Is Worse Than Hatred

CH front cover.jpg

This is the second of four albums I recorded for high school friends Chinese Happy. Here Jason Sterle co-engineers and we turned my house into a punk rock studio. I didn’t have much equipment, so the band paid me by buying a MOTU 896 Firewire interface. We set up our gear on a card table, mixed with home stereo speakers and backed up to an iPod, because they could be used as hard drives. I think it sounds damn good, considering. Sterle, nicknamed “Ole Sterle,” was an expert at mixing by playing back on multiple systems. There’s some great, hyper energy on this album.
